Alessi Tanto x Cambiare by Franco Sargiani
Tanto x Cambiare (Time for
Change) by designer Franco Sargiani is a new Alessi
watch that features an unique display. The short hand marks the passage
of 24 hours while the long hand shows minutes. Such separate hour and
minute displays can be seen on old European monastery clocks.
Sargiani
was born in Modena in 1940 and graduated from the Faculty of
Architecture at Milan Polytechnic. His work ranges from civil
architecture to industrial and interior architecture, from industrial
design to corporate image organization.
Stainless steel satin finish
case with white dial and blk leather strap. Case diameter: 40mm
(1.57in). Water resistance 3 ATM. Mineral glass crystal.
"Grasping
time as movement and expressing it as play through dynamic combinations
of components. Roman numerals, the meridian, standard clocks, dots,
lines, texture, colors, ways of formulation and graphic codes all
express time . . . time for change."
Separate hour and minute displays were inspired by the old clocks seen
on ancient churches in Europe. The display is unique: While the one
long hand marks the minutes, the short hour hand in its own dial checks
off the full 24 hours.
