The
MARCH LA.B SHELBY Limited Edition celebrates one the rarest Shelby
automobile prototypes of all time: the Shelby EXP 500 known as the
“Green Hornet”. This exclusive timepiece reflects on Shelby’s heritage
of pure performance and racing aesthetics. Encased in a black chassis
set against a wood dial replicating the original dash, the Shelby
Limited Edition Watch transports you back to the glory days of the late
sixties. Produced in 1968 by the legendary American automotive designer
and race driver Carroll Shelby, the Mustang hardtop double prototype is
an icon for car enthusiasts worldwide. The notchback Shelby became known
as the EXP 500 Green Hornet, outfitted with a ’68 Shelby custom hood,
groundbreaking independent suspensions and powered by a 428 CJ “X”
engine with Fuel Injection. Custom painter Sonny Fee applied three coats
of Gold Luster Green lacquer with gold metallic mica over the original
topcoat. Emblems and custom white/gold EXP500 stripes identified the car
as a true Shelby prototype. This car is now an integral part of
American heritage.
Carroll Shelby has not only won the most prestigous race as a
driver, the 24 hours of Le Mans, He has also built what many consider
the greatest sport car of all time. The aluminum-bodied 289 and 427
Cobra models. His subsequent work with Ford building the legendary
Shelby Mustang have made him one of the most recognizable names in
automobile history.
