Mr. Jones The Mantra
The Mantra alternates a very positive statement (e.g. "you are amazing") with a very negative one (e.g. "nobody likes you"). Every hour the watch displays one positive message and one negative message (the wedge that you read the statement through is also the hour hand).
Over time The Mantra makes the arrogant person more humble and makes the humble more confident.
The Mantra is inspired by the psychological theories of Émile Coué who promoted the practice of conscious auto-suggestion, that is the repetition of positive statements to heal the body or mind; most famously with the phrase "Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better."
Mr Jones Watches is the new cult watch brand from London, we create watches that are both provocative and seductive.
The watch today is a curious object - its functional aspect is largely redundant due to the abundence of mobile phones and computers which both keep impeccable time. This redundancy liberates the watch, allowing it to become more playful and carry some alternative functionality.
All the Mr Jones Watches are designed by Crispin Jones, they are genuine
indie products entirely conceived and executed following a singular vision. To use a cinematic analogy: most watches may be thought of as Hollywood blockbusters replete with happy ending and saccharine sentiment; Mr Jones Watches in contrast are film noir - interested in the anti-hero and the complicated pleasures of everyday life.
A statement from Crispin Jones about the design of the watches:
"Today everyone has a mobile phone to do the really functional timekeeping, this means that the wristwatch is free to do something a bit different. The watches I design reflect and comment on society, both on the role that time plays in all our lives and also on the social impact of technology. Of course because I would like people to wear these watches, I also work very hard to make them beautiful objects in their own right."
The watch comes in a MJW presentation box with a specially commissioned illustration by Nadine Faye-James. Inside the box you'll find the guarantee card - each watch is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of purchase against original manufacturing defect.

Watches
Founded by London-based designer Crispin Jones in 2007,
Mr Jones Watches aims to create and produce watches that do more than just
tell the time. A masters Degree from the Royal College of Art combined
with a history designing for companies including Casio Research and
Phillips Design has influenced the way Crispin approached his designs.
Design
To achieve the intricate and playful designs
in the collection, Mr Jones Watches uses a series of rotating disks layed
on top of each other. The idea, usually used in the design of children’s
watches, allows for intricate illustrations and more experimental layouts;
whilst still showing the time.
