When it comes to classic maritime vessels, nothing has a more tumultuous
history than the U-boat. Something about being encased in metal,
crushing depths, and the occasional mermaid just tickles our fancy. So
any company (especially one that makes watches) calling themselves
U-Boat better bring their A game, and bring it they did. The Classico
U-1001 is the most rugged watch that U-Boat produces and is rated to withstand 1001 meters below the
water’s surface. For reference, the Rolex Submariner gets 300 meters. If
you’re seriously going underwater, you better get serious about your
choice of timepiece. Oh yeah, it also looks damn good.
This Giant 55mm edition is limited to 1001 pieces worldwide - only
333 in the Titanium/Orange combination and virtually all sold-out, this
series is made of Grade 5 Titanium which makes them harder and stronger
than any other in the world. Number one never leaves U-BOAT HQ. Each
U-1001 comes in a Special Edition Aluminum Case with a reinforced
magnifying glass porthole viewing window.
MOVEMENT: automatic mechanical, modified and personalized at U-BOAT specifications for stem position at 9 o’clock. Height 4,60mm, jewels 25. Power reserve 40 hours.
FUNCTIONS: hours, minutes, seconds, date at 4 o’clock. Frequency 28.800 vibrations per hour, 4 Hz.
CASE: in grade 2 titanium, distinguishing crown on left side, with a special protective device (protected as a Trade Mark) and helium escape valve, serial number engraved on a steel plate, set on the left hand side of the case. Diameter 55 mm. Thickness 18,20mm. Weight 205 g approx.
BACK: screwed in, limited edition 1001 units, serial numbering engraved in basrelief. Rotor with Côtes de Genève decoration.
DIAL: the dial of this model is made up of two superimposed dials: one treated with superluminova and coloured pigments added (beige, orange or blue) and the other one cut, treated with composed opaque black pigments. Arabic numerals, superluminova luminous hands. 1001 writing in high relief.
CRYSTAL: high quality sapphire, scratch-proof, 5,5 mm thick.
WATER-RESISTANCE: 1001 meters - 100 ATM.
STRAP: black, rubber (hypoallergenic) with plate in titanium, deployante buckle. Width 23/22 mm. Fastened to the case with screws.
